Garmin vs Apple Watch: A Comprehensive Comparison for Step Tracking and Exercise Data




With the increasing popularity of wearable fitness devices, two prominent players in the market stand out: Garmin and Apple Watch. These smartwatches offer a wide range of features to track daily activities, including step counting and exercise data analysis. So personally, I am a Garmin guy. I had Apple Watch for a few years and loved it. But, as you may know, I am a data nerd. I like to extract as much data as I can in order to tweak things and know where I am at physiologically.


I currently have the Garmin Fenix 6 Solar. It is a beast of a watch. I charged it probably every 10 days. It keeps track of more things than the Apple Watch did.


Now, from phone to watch interaction, I think Apple Watch is king. But for fitness, in my opinion, Garmin is the way to go.

  • Recent models, such as the Apple Watch Series 6 and Apple Watch SE, feature an improved accelerometer for better step tracking precision.
